In the World Cup, Roy Hodgson added a single point in the
group of Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica, disappointment that forces them to
deepen the generational renewal that began last season.
In Group E qualifying for the European Championship, England
measured Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania and San Marino, in addition to
Switzerland, some opponents who, on paper, should not be a problem for the team
captained from last week Wayne Rooney is present at the next tournament.
The Swiss, who reached the second round in Brazil and is
ninth in the FIFA ranking of eleven over England are one of the toughest
opponents in the league for Hodgson.
Five of the eleven holders Hodgson in the last friendly (1-0
win against Norway) were 22 years or less, including Raheem Sterling,
Liverpool, and Jack Wilshere, the Arsenal, the two players who shone more in
London. Both will be ready to play tomorrow, while the Chelsea defender Gary
Cahill, 28, is a doubt for the inconvenience that has dragged the last days.
For Switzerland is the beginning of Vladimir Petkovic was
having the difficult task of keeping the progression shown at the time of his
predecessor, the illustrious veteran German Ottmar Hitzfeld.
