Salernitana was finally admitted to Serie A

The Federal Council of the FIGC has accepted the transfer of the shares of Salernitana from the owners Claudio Lotito and Marco Mezzaroma to a trust indicated by them, which will now have to deal with the sale of the team to a new independent owner group. Given also the positive opinion of Covisoc - the supervisory commission of professional clubs - Serie A has therefore officially admitted Salernitana to the next championship as the second promoted by Serie B.

Admission was temporarily blocked because at the end of June the FIGC had rejected the first trust proposal put forward by Lotito and Mezzaroma, judged not sufficiently independent of the latter two, both legally and economically.

The owners should have sold the Salernitana by June 25, because in Serie A Lotito is already owner from Lazio, and Mezzaroma is his brother-in-law. However, the two had not managed to sell the company in time and had therefore transferred their shares to a specially created company (the trust) managed by trusted people. The FIGC had rejected the first proposal, but on Wednesday it finally accepted the second.
