The dates of UEFA and those of the African Cup of Nations are not always compatible to organize friendly matches like this.

There, there was a free niche, with two games in preparation for the France team. I was in constant contact with countries like Cameroon. Cameroonians found themselves available, with the same desire as us. For us, this match was a priority. I wanted an African nation in Nantes.

In 2018, the League of Nations will emerge. This new European competition will capture a good part of the calendar of the team of France. The Blues will therefore play very rarely against teams from other continents.

It will remain available for two games each season. After, the African and European calendars should perhaps be better studied.

African football is progressing and has beautiful teams. And ongoing relationships we have with African players in our clubs. There are many in our championships of first and second division.
